Stroke (2014) is an installation exhibited in quartier21/MuseumsQuartier, Vienna. It consists of large linear actuator motors, each equipped with a different object, namely a cleaning brush, a plunger, a window squeegee and a garden rake, attached to its tip. The motors are mounted on stands that were placed just behind the display window, leaning against the glass, towards the viewer and ‘stroking’ or pushing against the surface of the glass. The sounds that result from their movement are amplified to be sent to loudspeakers just outside the glass.
